Now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you about my morning.
It was a little past 5 when I was so rudely awakened by my husband who wanted to.... hmm... play Scrabble!
I did not want to play Scrabble, nor do I ever want to play Scrabble before the sun comes up. Mama loves sleep and sleep loves mama.
Don't get me wrong. I love Scrabble. We play plenty. Sometimes I even get a double-word score! But my last hour of sleep is not something to mess with.
I tried telling him, "No way. You know I don't play Scrabble in the morning!" Then I rolled over and tried to drift back into dreamland, where I had been happily living in a tiny holler in Appalachia.
But no! He persisted! He must have already had a huge word ready to lay down or something because this man wanted him some Scrabble and he wanted it now! He even had his wooden letter holder out and ready.
But I refused to draw any letters. And then I invited him to ruin future moments of peaceful slumber by tap-dancing on my head.
How about you? Are you a morning Scrabble person or do you prefer to wait until the end of your day when you can spread out your board and interlink your words?

That is the best analogy for...Scrabble I've ever seen. LOL!
No I do not like to even think about playing Scrabble in the morning.
Scrabble. heh.
I'll usually play in the morning.
you are too funny! I'm a scrabble kind of girl typically on the weekends, after a glass of wine.
but sometimes I get tricked into a round of scrabble in the morning but it's not very fun....and I'm a sore looser.
This post has made my day!
Scrabble in the morning is only acceptable if I am not in a dead to the world slumber.
Double-word score! *snort*
We recently discovered playing Scrabble in the morning while Princess is watching cartoons but NOT BEFORE IT IS LIGHT OUT!!
Now, middle of the night Scrabble? That I like! I can sleep for a few hours, enjoys a nice game or two then roll over and sleep for a few more hours.
Oh my goodness! I cannot quit lauging. Hold on...I have to catch my breath.
OK. I do not like to play Scrabble before 8 am. Husband was an early morning player BC (before children), but no longer.
I'm better prepared to play if it's early afternoon. That's what happens when you have kids to get off to school in the morning & a husband who works nights. We have to sneak Scrabble in when ever we have a few minutes to set up the board.
Hehehe. Great post!!
I'm not a morning Scrabble player. I like mine at night, because it usually puts me to sleep.
Scrabble...funny!
I'm usually up for it in the morning but DH is not. However, we both for some reason were up at 4:30 AM!!! the other day and had an amazing game of Scrabble! LOL THAT has not happened in years, well before 3 kiddos came along!
Farmwife sent this link to me to make me laugh, and it sure worked.
I'm most definitely not a morning Scrabble player. Spelling and all that just doesn't work for me unless I've had a shower and feel clean and somewhat attractive. Morning breath just isn't conducive to going for a double word score, you know?
But now that I'm the mommy of a 6.5 week old baby after a traumatic delivery with a whole load of birth injuries for me, I'm pretty sure my Scrabble playing days are over for at least a few more months, if not forever. They say surgery and time could make me able to play the game again, but I'm not sure I'm ready to even think about it.
p.s. though my mother has categorically denied it my whole life, I'm pretty sure Scrabble is the code word she and my dad use for ....you know, playing Scrabble.
I really can't spell very well first thing in the morning, so morning Scrabble is just not my thing. I almost never win.
That is perhaps the funniest thing I have ever read! I do not like Scrabble in the morning. My last hour of sleep is generally worth more to me than a double-word score. Sad but true!
BBWWWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA..... oh too funny girl! Too funny.
My husband was not scrabble lovin' guy. Preferred solitare actually, which has a lot to do with why he now has the high-scoring "x" before his name :-). As for me... well I'm um, always game. However morning scrabble must allow for either zero verbal communication or a Listerine rinse first!
OK, now that I've stopped laughing, can breathe again, and have picked myself up off the floor and back into this d@mned uncomfortable hotel excuse for a chair...
Scrabble...OH...DH would play it all the time if I'd let him, but let's face it, with the arrival of children, they have a tendency to burst into the room in one form or another, scattering letters everywhere, totally causing loss of focus on spelling...what a mess!
that being said...we tend to fit in a game when the opportunity arises, but I'm not a big fan of morning Scrabble. I think it's because he takes to long laying down his words...and how's that for sportsmanship? :D
Depends on if there's mints at the Scrabble match.
I don't play Scrabble in the mornings. That's when I have sex.
I think I'd be up for some early Scrabble playing, but my son sleeping in between the two of us will knock all the tiles off the board. And, it's too cold on the floor in the morning to play there.
I agree with Casey, this is the funniest post I have read all week, probably last week too.
A morning game of Scrabble is about all I could handle these days. By the time I get home there is just no energy or desire for games of any sort.
with hubby working long & crazy hours I play scrabble whenever I get a chance & the girls are sleeping because hubby says that children who are awake ruin each & every game of scrabble!
This is far too funny! Thank you. You just made my day.
As for me, I am a huge fan of Scrabble, particularly in the morning, probably moreso than my husband.
Playing Scrabble in the morning used to be fun, but with three kids up before the crack of dawn, it takes all of our energy to scream, "Go back to bed," and then get up and deal with them when they don't. We're too exhausted to think straight much less try to fit tiles together.
Plus, by then, you have little people up and running around and they do so love to run in the hallway right outside our bedroom door. And let's face it, no one can manage to spell, much less keep keep your board at the ready with the wee ones right outside. :-)
This is hilarious! I do not like to be awakened for my game of Scrabble either and am quite the witch when I am. I am a late night or afternoon scrabble kind of girl.
Omgosh the comments are almost as funny as the OP!! I love Scrabble in the mornings. I can't think of a better way to start the day.
Okay so this cracked me up so much that I read it more than once.
My husband is good at Scrabble so I am willing to play pretty much whenever. There has been a rare time or two when I just won't wake up and have no idea that I missed a chance at playing until I am informed later.
I agree with T with Honey that middle of the night scrabble can be the best.
Not for a long time. Sometimes I think the wooden letter tray in my bed, but when I actually look for it, I can't find it.
Scrabble in the morning is good so long as I get a decent score. Otherwise? I'm a brat and don't want to play next time.
Great post! Cracked me up. :)
Oh honey. There's never a bad time for scrabble with the right boy.
Scrabble, huh?
Ha! This is hilarious.
At the moment I will play Scrabble anytime there aren't kids on the playing surface. Which is pretty much never, to my great despair. ;-)
No Scrabble in the morning. I am so unpleasant in the morning, I admit it.
Plus ew, morning breath. That's what bugs me about movies: how people will start making out right when they wake up. I'm all, "Ew. Doesn't their breath smell like old fish?"
