What We Did On This Ordinary Day: Played Taco Bell

Mere moments after we had finished breakfast, it began.

"Mama, I want Taco Bell for lunch."

"We'll see, sweetheart."

Lunchtime neared.

"Mama, can we go to Taco Bell?"

"I don't have enough money for Taco Bell today. We're going to have lunch at home."

"Aw. I really wanted to go there today."

"Well, how about we play Taco Bell?"

"How?"

"You guys make signs for the walls..."
"...and I'll make some burritos."
"Now we can pretend we're at Taco Bell!"
"That was fun, Mama! Tomorrow can we play Burger King?"

"Sure, baby."

This is truly inspired! We'll have to do this the next time the kids want to go to Applebees. (I DETEST the food there. But they love the atmosphere. Sigh.)

I LOVE this idea, so fun! I think even my older kids would get a kick out of it. We cut down a lot on fast food years ago & my 12 year old still longs for it, lol.

My mom would always buy it for her & it turned her into only wanting fast food (my brother, same way). When money got tight & I couldn't run through a drive through on dance days, I started buying those little pizzas from the grocery store. I'd cook it & wrap in foil. She thought it was coming from a party store & loved it.

Months & Months went by & she finally saw them in the freezer. She couldn't believe it. You know what though, she stopped eating them for a couple years. She finally just asked me to buy them again. I think the fast food cravings are finally starting to go away.

I had read a tip awhile back that this mom would use an old McDonalds bag to trick her little ones into eating healthier food. It worked every time.

I love your idea of making it fun though, I hate tricking my kids. I feel like I'm lying to them.
