ring ring.... ring ring... ring ring...
(Pick up the phone. I know you have caller ID and you're all "Ugh, it's Sarah" but I feel like chatting. I won't keep you long I promise. And I don't mind if I can't have all of your attention. I've wiped many behinds, helped with hundreds of math problems and cleaned up broken glasses all while talking on the phone. Let's just chat for a bit, okay?)
Hello! How are things? How was your weekend?
So, I'm reading this book. It's called Home-Alone America: The Hidden Toll of Day Care, Behavioral Drugs and Other Parental Substitutes. (Not an affiliate link!) Yeah, the title pretty much says it all and ::whisper:: I kind of agree with most of it. OK, not just kind of, but a lot. I just know it's a touchy subject and don't want people to be mad at me. I mean, in my opinion, I really think you should work to live and your family should be your life. I mean if you really and truly can't be home with your kids then that's just the way things are I guess. But I just think maybe some people aren't trying all that hard to make things work. Anyway, you should read it if you get the chance.
Let's switch to a lighter subject now. Oh my gosh! I've discovered this amazing recipe for these things called Pumpkies. They're like brownies but instead of being chocolatey, they're made with pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. They are insanely delicious! Made thee twice so far. And then I ran out of pumpkin puree.
The kids? They're all doing great. The 7 and 5 year olds had check-ups last week. The 7 year old told the doctor his favorite vegetable was all four kinds of bell peppers. And the 5 year old counted to 100 for the doctor. Love those kids.
